A New Us
A large Thai
organization, one of the largest players in the high
quality food ingredients industry, turned to APM to
assist them in bringing their disparate business units
from various mergers and acquisitions into a common
organizational fold and culture. The organization suffered
high turnover among the staff. Silos held conflicting
outlooks and objectives. The management knew the staff
did not enjoy working for the organization, and that
this was hurting production and results while increasing
costs.
We started
by getting the leadership team together and helping
them develop a strong shared understanding of where
the organization should go and a mutual commitment to
a five year strategy to get the organization there.
This shared vision was supported by developing a new
culture of empowerment and excellence and a plan for
greater staff engagement. The leadership team became
the role models for the new “way we do things
here” across the various business units so that
everyone was pulling in the same direction.
The organization
now knows where it is going and what it will take to
get there. They stand together behind common goals and
a common way of doing things. Moreover they understand
what everyone else is doing and why. While the business
units retained a great degree of autonomy, this did
not compromise the new unity of purpose. |
